Ok, so with all the people out and unemployed - I don't care what they say - it's hanging right around 10% - why do we all have more "stuff" than we know what to do with. Well, just recently I discovered a really neat, really REAL site for getting rid of "STUFF" - and ok, maybe find some new "STUFF" that we can't do without, but won't spend real money for. Your stuff is posted for pickup and let me tell you, based on some of the posts I have seen, there is almost nothing someone out there might need - why not share your good "stuff" with a person who wants/needs it more than you do!!
The upside is, if you have a lot of good stuff, you get to share it for free with someone who needs it more than you do (remember, your need to store it for 5 years in the back of the closet does not count as you needing it) AND, even better, as we age, we will look for good places to rid ourselves of a lot of the "stuff" we have collected over the years that we now realize we no longer need - or we run out of room to store more "stuff". We tend to decide to rid ourselves of old stuff at the dumpster when we move or those multiple trips to donation centers for them to sell it in their stores, so why not just give it to someone who "needs" it more than you do a little bit at a time!!
Enough chatter - the site is http://www.freecycle.org/ - you sign up there, then they direct you to a local yahoo group that is in your area. You request to join the group and then you can post your stuff (or like some of us do - watch it for more stuff we might "need". If you monitor your email regularly, check the box that gives you every email, if you just want a daily summary (you might miss out on the really good "stuff") check the box for daily summary.
Remember, the old "garbage" is not what we are talking about here - but mostly good recyclable STUFF!!
